    100% REMOTE. ***You MUST be able to travel to San Diego a few times a year for company events and meetings ***

    Job Summary

    The role of the Systems Engineer is to maintain the system operations following all regulatory requirements with a primary focus on confidentiality and HIPPA security regulations. Our client is a world renowned hospital in Sothern CA and this position will lead to a full time opportunity with them.  You will be working directly with the CTO.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform daily maintenance operations of the Server, storage, and virtual application delivery infrastructure
    • Actively communicating changes within the IT infrastructure to all affected parties effectively
    • Establishing and maintaining strict testing and deployment methodologies for Information Systems
    • Designing and implementing the processes to establish and maintain appropriately available computer systems operations environment, including controlled observation and evaluation of new technologies and methodologies
    • Using monitoring tools and statistical analysis to manage system capacity, working alongside Technical Operations Center (TOC) staff to maintain the TOC support on-site at the Data Center 24/7
    • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and productivity of current processes and procedures, and assist peers by sharing technical knowledge and best practices
    • Periodically be able to be onsite.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ year’s experience as a systems engineer, working in enterprise environments.
    • Be able and willing to periodically (6-8 times a year) come down to San Diego and be onsite for the day. This is not negotiable.
    • Extensive experience with Windows operating systems, AD (Active Directory), DHCP, DNS (Domain Name System), FTP (File Transfer Protocol), TFTP, SMTP, SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), printers, scanners, profile and version management, and experience with system design, capacity planning, and capacity management
    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
    • Hands-on experience with:
    • o Storage Solutions – Nutanix HCI, Compellent, NetApp, ECS
    • o Storage Technologies – RAID, HBA, ZFS, DAS, NAS, SAN, MPIO
    • o Virtualization – VMware vSphere, Acropolis Hyper Visor
    • o Virtual Desktop Infrastructure – Citrix
    • o Server OS – Windows 2012R2, 2016, 2019, 2022, Enterprise Linux, SUSE, and Ubuntu 18+
    •  o Services – Active Directory, Azure cloud services, Cert Enrollment, Active Directory Federation Services
    • o Scripting – PowerShell, Bash, Python o Automation – Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Azure Automation, Power Automate
    • o Cloud solutions – OneDrive, Azure Files, Snowball, Serverless compute
    • o DevSecOps/Automation
