The Security Solutions Architect is a key technical role in strategic
business and technical initiatives, product and innovation projects, and
platform integrations with partner technologies. As part of the
Technical Business Development team in the Business and Corporate
Development group, the Security Solution Architect is uniquely
positioned at the intersection of strategy, business, technology and
corporate development (M&A). This is a highly visible and hands-on role
that works with our executive team, R&D, product and engineering
leaders, our largest customers, and our strategic and technology
partners.
Security Solution Architects are responsible for technical integrations
for the Palo Alto Networks platform with partner technologies, from
ideation through proof of concept, development, field sales enablement.
The Solution Architect role works with integrations that span broad use
cases across the Palo Alto Networks next-generation security platform
and the enterprise IT and security ecosystem.
The successful candidate will play a leadership role in security-focused
integrations with endpoint, the Internet of Things, and industrial
control and SCADA systems. Related technologies include endpoint, server
and mobile operating systems, identity, incident response, mobile
computing, network security, security analytics, security orchestration
and automation, software defined networking, threat intelligence,
virtualization and public and private cloud.
Responsibilities:
- Create use cases and technical integration architectures leveraging
APIs and SDKs
- Deliver proof of concept demonstrations independently or with
technology partners
- Influence product strategy, roadmap and priorities with Product
Management
- Develop and articulate product innovations, features and
enhancements
- Contribute to technical and strategic aspects of M&A activities
- Present at internal and external conferences and webinars
- Support field teams, partners and customers
Required Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in architecting, developing, engineering, or
using security, threat or incident response systems and technologies
- Ideal candidates will have a strong background in endpoint security
and compliance technologies (EPP, EDR, DLP) or industrial
control/SCADA systems in manufacturing, process control, power
generation, fabrication, refining or utilities.
- Expertise in operating system internals (kernel,
networking, security) for desktop, server and mobile platforms
- Experience with scripting languages and automating network/system
administrative tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to analyze complex
multivariate problems and use a systematic approach to gain quick
resolution, working on-site, online, and by phone.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills with
technical, executive and 'C' level audiences
- Strong organizational and time management skills in a dynamic
fast-paced environment
- Aptitude, attitude, motivation and creativity to deliver on
commitments in keeping with the positive “can do” culture at Palo
Alto Networks
Preferred Qualifications (at least two):
- Practical experience working with routing and switching products
that are installed adjacent to the Palo Alto Networks next
generation firewall
- Demonstrable experience with systems installation, configuration and
administration of routers/switches, UNIX/Linux and
Windows-based systems. Active Directory/LDAP experience desirable
- Good working knowledge of network infrastructure and security
appliances including but not limited to firewalls, SSL/IPSec VPNs,
security proxies and caches
- Working knowledge of enterprise and SaaS application layer
communications and functionality (e.g., Office 365, Exchange,
SAP, Oracle)
- Experience with cloud applications and environments, e.g., AWS,
Azure, ServiceNow
- Engineering or coding experience with python, JavaScript, shell
scripts and RESTful APIs
- Private/Public cloud infrastructure experience designing, scaling
and automating systems
- Experience working with channel partners, services providers, system
integrators and understanding of a channel centric go to market
approach
