    SBM Offshore USA, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer in Houston, Texas. In this role you will be responsible for: Oversight for all technical matters relating to mechanical equipment on board an floating production storage and offloading units (FPSOs), including maintaining current technical documents and ensuring all maintenance is carried out according to regulatory requirements; monitoring the performance of rotating equipment offshore and ensuring it is operated safely and within its design envelope while identifying and avoiding future mechanical problems; acting as onshore point of contact for the offshore team for all mechanical related issues; reviewing any process design changes that are requested; defining the functional requirements of design changes that may become necessary during the life of field and initiate management of change activities; ensuring the unit's engineering operations manual is maintained and current to correctly reflect the operation of the equipment and changes that have been made; undertaking root cause studies to determine mechanical failures or underperformance of rotating equipment and recommending remedial actions; supporting operations manager and assistant for all mechanical related issues; auditing and reviewing the standards, methods, procedures, and competency of subcontractors and suppliers of mechanical equipment and systems to ensure quality deliver and attending review of new equipment when required; ensuring that rotating equipment availability on the FPSO is maintained at the highest practical level, and that any equipment downtime is minimized.

     

    Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience in either oil and gas or engineering and construction industry on offshore units.
