The Role: YSI, A Xylem Brand, seeks to hire a Program Manager to manage
the coordinated efforts of multiple, globally focused projects directed
toward strategic and business objectives. Projects and programs contain
complex activities that may span functions, organizations, geographic
regions and cultures. The Program Manager will build credibility,
establish rapport and maintain communication with stakeholders at
multiple levels, including those external to the organization. Ideal
candidate will be able to work from any of the following Xylem
offices: Charlotte, NC - Yellow Springs, OH - Raleigh, NC.
Essential Functions:
- Perform an initial program assessment by defining global program
objectives, requirements and risks in order to ensure alignment with
Analytics strategic objectives and business goals.
- Identify the project set for execution within the Program. Ensure
alignment of individual project plans with the program goals
and benefits.
- Develop structured plans based on program goals and benefits to
coordinate execution of the individual projects within the program.
- Determine application of the Technology Platform Process or Product
Platform Process to programs where appropriate.
- Develop program budget estimates and maintain program-level economic
model (PAR).
- Define program stakeholder group and manage stakeholders’
communication throughout the program lifecycle.
- Communicate program status and progress on a regular basis
(typically monthly) to the stakeholders.
- Lead / coordinate scoring and entry of the project set into the
Analytics Project Portfolio.
- Create and maintain the program-level MS Project schedule.
- Work with project managers and functional managers to identify and
mitigate risks, and resolving conflicts and issues.
- Identify project interdependencies and coordinate management with
project managers and functional managers.
- Manage program-level change requests via a change
management process.
- Execute a controlled closure of the program upon delivery of all
program benefits.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the Technology
Platform, Product Platform and XPD processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires B.S. degree in Engineering or in a technical area of
science and research.
- An MS or MBA is highly preferred.
- Project Management Institute PMP Certification is required.
- Work experience is to include 10 years minimum in project management
with a minimum of 5 years industry minimum.
- Management experience should include Integrated Product Team
Leadership (IPT Lead) and to include demonstrated management
experience of multiple projects
- Good knowledge of the PMI Program Management Performance Domains:
Strategy Alignment, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement,
Governance, Life Cycle Management.
- Good understanding of Project Portfolio Management and application
to Program Management and process groups: Initiating, Planning,
Executing, Monitoring & Control and Closing.
- Good knowledge and experience with the Stage-Gate process.
- Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- Proficient with use of MS Office Suite, MS Project and SharePoint
- Must demonstrate and lead with effective management skills to direct
employees to achieve project goals and outcomes.
- Must have a knowledge base of supervisor skills and understanding of
a supervisor and manager’s role and responsibilities.
- Must be able to communicate effectively the technology, its
application and benefits to a wide audience to include customers and
senior management.
- Must demonstrate a full understanding of business competencies,
business unit operations, financial objectives, and support the
business initiatives and objectives possessing the ability to find
innovative ways to resolve problems.
- Must be able to lead with character creating an environment where
people communicate honestly. Actively seek and share information to
ensure common understanding.
