    The Role: Godwin Pumps, a Xylem Brand, specializing in Dewatering Solutions, seeks to hire a Class A Driver in the Midland, TX area. Godwin is the leader in portable industrial pumping, offers full-service dewatering capabilities including pump sales, rental and on-site services to transport water and wastewater to customers worldwide. The Driver will assist yard personnel in loading/unloading, perform inspections, maintain communication, and other duties as assigned. Essential Functions: The Class A Driver will assist yard personnel in loading and unloading trucks with pumping equipment for delivery and pick up. Secure all items loaded on the truck for safe over-the-road travel in accordance with Federal and local Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. Review all items to be delivered (or picked up) with customer to ensure completeness and accuracy. Obtain customer’s signature on Rental Contract paperwork. Maintain log books with entries for driving, on-duty, etc. in accordance with DOT guidelines. Maintain mileage and fuel logs as required. Perform daily visual inspections of delivery equipment and documenting any items in need of service. Obey all company policies and customer safety rules. Maintain communication with dispatch as to whereabouts and estimated arrival/departure times. Assist in the set-up of pumping equipment as necessary. Available for on-call off-hours driving assignments on a rotating schedule for emergencies. Assist as needed in preparing rental equipment for dispatch and ensuring yard is organized and maintained. Minimum Qualifications: One to two years’ experience in the construction industry preferred One year experience operating Class A commercial vehicles Experience with flatbed trailers and proper load securement techniques (chaining, strapping, etc.) Valid state issued commercial driver license Current Department of Transportation medical card Preferred Qualifications: Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide) Ability to read a map Ability to complete basic mechanical tasks Ability to operate a commercial vehicle according to Commercial Class license for extended periods of time throughout cities, job sites, major highways and interstates (including tunnels and bridges) and in all weather conditions Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
