THE ROLE: The Quality Engineer plans and supports activities to maintain
and improve Texas Turbine Operations quality system to assure
manufacturing processes, inspection methods and quality documentation
meets or exceeds customer’s requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze failures, and implement corrective and preventive actions to
respond to customer complaints.
- Root cause analysis and verification of corrective and preventive
actions for process related failures and concerns.
- Manage suppliers’ performance and conduct audits. Ensure timely
resolution of supplier nonconformance, including
corrective/preventive actions.
- Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining
the quality management system. Conduct audits, including closing out
audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determine proper
corrective and preventive action.
- Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the
quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, lean methods, etc.
- Collaborate withengineering and operations to ensure transfer to
production of new products are in accordance with approved data.
- Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall
activities of the receiving, process, and outgoing
quality functions.
- Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality
manuals, quality procedures, and work instructions.
- Responsible for the continued development of the receiving,
in-process and final inspection team. Function as a technical
trainer and provide support to inspectors as necessary.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining calibration records of
measuring equipment.
- Scope: Maintains customer focus for the Texas Turbine Operations
through the use of advanced quality techniques in an ISO 9001quality
system environment at both the Lubbock Plant (machine shop
and assembly) and the Slaton Foundry. This position interfaces with
fabrication, assembly, testing, engineering, supply chain, shipping,
receiving, and quality control.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES,
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’sDegree in Minimum of four years’ experience in Quality,
Manufacturing, or Engineering fields, with a minimum of four years’
experience as a Quality professional.
- Strong background in ISO 9001, statistical techniques, gauging and
calibration, SPC, inspection systems, and basic knowledge of quality
management systems.
- Experience in a machine shop environment with mechanical ability and
drafting experience.
- Capable of reading and understanding mechanical, electrical and
electromechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics and other
design-related documents.
- Capable of reading, understanding and determining the acceptability
of technical test and/or inspection data.
- ASQ CQE / CQA
- Strong short term and long term project management skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Works independently and proactively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management and
facilitation skills.
- Self-starter, able to work with or lead cross-functional teams.
