    The Role:  Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire an Embedded System Test Engineer as part of the Distribution Automation HW/FW Team.  The candidate will assist in automating the testing of our hardware and firmware devices.  The successful candidate will exhibit a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in software development with an understanding of system level test automation and development. In this role, you will interface regularly with electrical, firmware, back-end software, mechanical, and system test engineers on layer interface and system level testing development. A high level of creativity is required with the ability to rapidly assimilate and utilize multi-discipline information. This team makes a difference in the world by helping utilities and consumers conserve water and energy in new and innovative ways.

    Requirements:

    • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of software experience.
    • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (C++/Java/C# etc.) on multiple computing platforms (such as Windows and Linux)
    • Considerable knowledge of automated testing of embedded designs.
    • Proponent of test driven development and test automation.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
    • The ability to work with cross-functional teams to create a fully functional system.
    • Strong communication skills, flexibility and teamwork to contribute in a small team environment.
    • Self-directed, driven, and able to multi-task.

     Desired experience, but not required:

    • Experience using source code control.
    • Experience with machine to machine / Internet of Things applications.
