    THE ROLE: Sensus, a Xylem brand, is seeking Intern Candidates with Electrical Engineering backgrounds to join our team.  As a member of the Electrical Engineering Team, the incumbent will develop and implement utility metering products involving complex RF communications, tooling, electronics, software and embedded systems which collectively comprise an end-to-end Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) based metering application. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that project initiatives are met.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Interest in working with the development of micro-controller or DSP based or embedded systems; high volume products for the next generation of Automatic Meter Infrastructure (AMI) products.
    • Interest in developing the building blocks for new core features and functionality for future products. 
    • Desire to participate in the selection and development of suitable RF components and development tools.
    • Desire and ability to learn new tools, languages and design techniques.  
    • Strong sense of ownership and drive
    • Passionate about embedded systems, circuit boards, PCB schematics/layouts
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong customer focus

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Minimum rising junior in standing
    • 0-2 years’ experience with RF and/or analog and digital electronic/embedded design.
    • Some exposure to common test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and frequency analyzers is also highly desired.
    • Solid understanding of analog and digital circuitry
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally with both local and remote sites
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
    • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience as the Lead Engineer for your last academic project
    • Exposure assisting with the development and testing/verifying of embedded systems
    • Exposure assisting Quality Assurance and Marketing in investigating and analyzing defective product returned from customers.
    • Exposure to a fast paced team environment where you have interfaced regularly with electrical, back-end software, mechanical and system test engineers on system level design development
