    Specialty Industrial Products, A Xylem Business Unit, specializes in the development and manufacturing of products for various Marine, RV, Beverage Dispensing Equipment, and Industrial Applications

    THE ROLE: Specialty Industrial Products, A Xylem Business Unit, seeks to hire an Engineering Technician II at our site in beautiful Irvine, California, to support engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication, design development of electro mechanical systems and experimental designs. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Under general supervision supports engineering activities such as design, testing, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, solve engineering problems, create prototypes, and validate designs.
    • Modify existing product designs for use on other applications, to improve life, reliability and performance.
    • Develops solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
    • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with routine technical tasks.
    • Work with contacts in immediate work unit to obtain and/or provide information to complete assignments.
    • Has a strong sense of ownership and drive.
    • Wants to learn from experienced engineers, technicians and managers.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Capable of physically performing the duties in an R&D test lab, consisting of lifting turning and use of basic tools.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum Associate Degree in a technical field.
    • Mechanical aptitude required.
    • Familiar with pumps, electric motors and hydraulic principles.
    • Basic knowledge of test methodologies.
    • Willingness to work in a basic lab environment.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high standards.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment and work well as part of a team.
    • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PPT.
    • Experience with hand and power tools.
    • Strong Mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to read and understand engineering design drawings.
    • Strong oral and written technical communication skills preferred.
    • Ability to collaborate with teams and across functional and department boundaries.

     PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
