    THE ROLE: Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a Senior Software Engineer. As a member of the Software Engineering Team, they will architect, design, develop, test and support Java software applications as part of RNI - our flagship software product AMI application. . In addition they provide an important role in helping DevOps with the development and maintenance of the RNI installer and related development/build environments. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to succeed in a fast paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that project initiatives are met.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

    • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
    • 5+ years of experience in a software development related field
    • Commercial software development experience
    • Strong object-oriented design and coding skills (Java, and/or C++), preferably on a UNIX or Linux platform developing Systems software
    • Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms
    • Ability to work within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience with online distributed systems, real-time systems, platform infrastructure design and implementation
    • Experience with communications and/or networking solutions design and development
    • Delivered mission critical services or services operating in a 24x7 environment
    • Extensive experience with multi-threading and concurrency in large scale high availability systems
    • Previously held a technical leadership role for several complete large-scale projects
    • Have experience with build/deployment tools and related environmental artifacts (such as Jenkins, Jira, Subversion, Git, Docker)
    • Experience with Agile (SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, web services, UNIX, middleware and data mining systems
