    THE ROLE: Xylem seeks to hire a Foundry Core Room Utility person to clean and hand-finish sand cores used in the molding process for iron casting production.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Maintain high safety standards and follow all company safety rules and policies 
    • Hand finish chemically-bonded sand cores by smoothing rough edges, patching holes, and making vents
    • Apply paste and join core sections, gauging correctness of assembly
    • Daub cores as needed. Paint or dip cores as required with refractory core wash.
    • Be aware of defective or broken cores and segregate.
    • Perform regular daily housekeeping in core room area as required.
    • Remove cores from core boxes.
    • May operate core mixer and/or coreblower machines with supervision and training to broaden skill sets
    • Assist in core dipping and core wash mixing
    • Perform related duties as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

    • High School Diploma / GED
    • 6 months industrial/manufacturing experience desirable
    • Ability to communicate with people and follow verbal and written instructions

    • Work in standing or sitting position 10 hours/shift
    • Considerable arm movement
    • Work requires close attention to lifting and handling of medium weight parts up to 35 lbs. Heavy parts raised to position with chain hoist

    • Average shop conditions with some temperature variations due to seasons
    • Subjected to noisy environment requires wearing of ear plugs.
    • Standard PPE required: safety glasses or safety goggles,ear plugs, safety shoes with toe and metatarsal guards, gloves and protective apron and/or sleeves (provided by company except for shoes)
