products, and systems. Products include transceiver equipped Water, Gas
and Electric meters, Automatic Meter Infrastructure (AMI) smart points,
in-home-displays, street-lighting controls, network communication
cabinets and more. The candidate will also work closely with hardware,
mechanical and firmware developers to insure the full integration of
quality products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work closely with Research and Development teams to
determine/predict component and system life in defined indoor and
outdoor operating environments to ensure product reliability and
extended operating life of the product
- Develop test methods, systems and fixtures for a diverse product
portfolio
- Work with cross functional teams (e.g.: Sales and Marketing) to
understand customer usage and expectations and use the data to
continuously improve test and analysis practices
- Testing of products to North American and international/global
certification standards
- Use of Six Sigma techniques to define critical performance
parameters, develop test strategies and analysis of performance data
to determine impacts on long-term product reliability
- Coordinate with external test-houses to conduct testing and analysis
when necessary
- Participation in DFMEA of electrical and mechanical systems and
board level trouble-shooting
- Develop subassembly/system level reliability test plans (including
sample size, test duration time, test stress and
measurement methodology) and utilize test automation
where applicable.
- Analyze failure data and author defect tracking items and
reliability test reports
- Determine acceleration factors for reliability testing of critical
subassemblies and systems to use with HALT and ALT testing and
Weibull life prediction tools.
- Determine calculated MTBF/MTTF of critical subassemblies and systems
and develop correlation with field return failure rates and drive
product reliability improvement
- Utilization of statistical and reliability software tools (i.e.
Minitab, Reliasoft or Relex) and MS Office tools; MS Project
experience helpful
- A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management skills a must

work experience)
- 1-4 years of related test and verification work experience preferred
- Experience testing of electro-mechanical products helpful;
international product testing a plus
- Expertise in hardware testing over various environmental stresses
( ex. temperature, humidity, vibration, voltage, current,
drop/shock, salt fog, etc...) a plus
PREFERRED:
- Lean Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma experience
- Test automation programming experience; experience with C#, Java, or
C++ programming languages, but not a requirement
- Hands-on experience operating environmental, electrical and/or
mechanical stress test equipment is beneficial
