    THE ROLE: Sensus, a Xylem brand seeks to hire a Failure Analysis Engineer. The candidate will work in the Failure Analysis group to provide electronic hardware support to product lines within the Sensus business unit.  Products include water meters, electric meters, Automatic Meter Infrastructure (AMI) SmartPoint’s, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) endpoints, and AMR interrogation equipment.  The candidate will also work closely with the Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing Test, and Development Engineering groups as needed to insure the delivery of quality products to Sensus customers.  The candidate must be self-driven, self-motivated, ambitious and open-minded.  The candidate needs to be both comfortable working as part of a team and independently on a lab bench. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting of analog and digital circuits to diagnose issues down to the root cause for customer returns and manufacturing failures.
    • Design, implement and unit test corrective action(s) based on the root cause analysis.
    • Design and develop product enhancements / features for current product line as determined by the business.
    • Responsible for updating documentation, drawings, training materials, etc. associated with any product design change.
    • Support Development, System Test, Quality, and Manufacturing Test groups during new product introductions.  Support will include the development of troubleshooting guides and to provide product training for various product support groups during new product introductions.
    • Ability to interface with internal Sensus customers (Technical Services, Marketing, Field Sales, Operations, etc.) as well as end-user customers as needed to resolve quality issues.
    • Develop and adhere to the Sensus product development processes during product redesigns to achieve superior quality products.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
    • BSEE with Mechanical Experience is desirable
    • 4+ years of analog, digital, and RF electronic design and/or product support experience
    • Excellent testing and troubleshooting skills
    • Ability to perform root cause analysis down to the component level is a mandatory
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Candidate must be organized, highly independent and self-directed
    • Metering Industry experience and High volume manufacturing experience are highly desirable 
    • Lean Six Sigma Training a strong plus
