The Role: The Black Belt is responsible for understanding the current
process state, identifying efficiency/improvement opportunities, then
leading cross-functional team members to drive process improvements tied
to Key Performance Indicators of the business utilizing Lean Sigma
principles. Focus areas include interval or lead time reduction,
reduction of human errors, process re-designs that result in the
reduction of the number of steps and eliminate other forms of process
waste.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Document current processes and propose improved processes.
- Standardize processes across various business units, developing
Standard Operating Procedures.
- Implement process management/process improvement initiatives
following Lean Six Sigma principles.
- Create new self-sustaining processes that include identifying and
tracking the appropriate KPIs.
- Assist in teaching Lean Six Sigma principles to line staff; train
others in use of tools and methodologies as part of
project execution.
- Lead process changes, improvements, value stream mapping.
- Champion communication between organizations at all levels.
- Facilitate cross-functional teams to achieve Kaizen objectives.
- Create Standardized Operating Procedures (Work Instructions);
increase workflow efficiency.
- Mentor employees as they apply Lean methodology to problem solving
and project execution.
- Publish weekly progress reports.
- Follow and comply with all ESH policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
- 8+ years diverse work experience with a Bachelor’s degree in
Business, Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years work experience in Lean Six Sigma process application.
- Trained in Lean Six Sigma Principles (Five S’s, Waste Reduction,
Error/Mistake Proofing, PDCA, Root Cause Analysis, A3 Problem
Solving, Value Stream Mapping, KAIZEN, Lead Time Reduction).
- Strong analytical skills and deep process orientation
- Experience in developing various process documentation (SOP, ISO,
etc).
- Experience in operational performance
evaluation (Efficiency/Utilization).
- Experience in implementing Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Ability to influence others.
- Ability to develop and sustain an unparalleled customer focused
culture within department
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are necessary to
help define, develop and enforce initiatives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, along with
Access / other database software
