    The Role: Goulds Water Technology, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a Systems Engineer for the Xylem-AWS-Lubbock, Texas facility. As a member of the Engineering Team, the Systems Engineer is the site subject matter expert for the PTC/Creo suite of design tools, including the Windchill PLM as well as MathCAD. Candidate must have both a broad and deep understanding of PTC Creo.  A heavy focus on process automation including model/assembly generation, drawing creation, and BOM generation will be required, so a comprehensive understanding of product configuration techniques is a must.  Candidate must work with local users and other external systems engineers to provide the systems engineering solutions for product development and project order validation by implementing Best Practices and Lean Initiatives under the direction of the Engineering Manager.

    Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for creation and maintenance of model-based product configurators utilizing the Sigmaxim suite of design tools.
    • Process improvements obtained from the full implementation of the PTC Creo design suite software.
    • Process improvements obtained through the implementation of lean initiatives and best practices.
    • Process improvements in the ETO sales/quotation process through automation and integration of engineering systems.
    • Provide training and product support to site level users of PTC Creo.
    • Interface with division and corporate level systems engineers to ensure full compliance with corporate engineering systems directives and initiatives.
    • As the primary site BIM (Building Information Model) point of contact, provide site level BIM capability support.
    • Act as the site level representative for the Corporate BIM Community of Practice.
    • While acting as the site level representative for all engineering systems processes, advocate for the unique ETO challenges faced by the site.
    • Work with Site and corporate information systems to ensure hardware and software support meets the site’s usage requirements.
    • Make recommendations on user support and training opportunities.
    • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of engineering documents required to support engineering systems such as procedures, work instructions, and forms.
    • Schedule and chair bi-yearly process capability reviews with design engineering team to ensure proper alignment of automation tools with business requirements.
    • Provide all necessary support to site level needs in the Windchill PLM platform.
    • Define and maintain the necessary workflows in Windchill PLM platform.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

     

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain a safe and well organized workplace, and ensure that all Best Practices and safety initiatives are followed.
    • Provides product design input and recommendations to engineering for performance and production improvements.
    • Assist in the creation and support of large project order drawing, model and data packets for use in securing strategic orders for the site.
    • Maintain awareness of potential products in the marketplace that can improve speed and adherence to design intent while transitioning design tools further to the front of the sales channel.

     Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

    • B.S. Mechanical Engineering, plus
    • 4-7 years related experience in PTC Creo Parametric/Pro Engineer CAD/CAM use and CAD automation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Must have a thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering technology.
    • Shall possess an aptitude for good analytical skills and the ability to organize and implement engineering tasks.
    • Should have the ability to interface well with others and to direct, and take direction from others, as required.
    • Experience in Sigmaxim automation toolset.
    • Must be knowledgeable in MS Office applications
