MATERIALS SPECIALIST - CASTING AND 3D PRINTING
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program, operate, and maintain polymer 3D printers to support
casting operations
- Provide hand finishing and assembly for printed components that meet
critical dimensional tolerances
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers, internal experts, and other
resources to define the best operations for fabricating plastic,
wax, foam patterns, or ceramic shells
- Take initiative in problem solving, cost reductions, and process
improvement
- Work with design engineers and tooling engineers to take products
from design to production
- Work with quality engineers to reduce defects and maintain high
yield
- Provide hands-on support to manufacturing and test areas when
developing prototype and production hardware
- Travel to suppliers when necessary
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or production
environment
- Hands-on experience creating 3-D models or products
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a creative or engineering discipline
- Demonstrated professional track record of creative problem solving,
cost reductions, and process improvement
- Experience taking products from design to production
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the
organization
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience with 3D printers
- Experience with investment casting
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations,
including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you
must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,
protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible
to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department
