    MATERIALS SPECIALIST - CASTING AND 3D PRINTING

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Program, operate, and maintain polymer 3D printers to support casting operations
    • Provide hand finishing and assembly for printed components that meet critical dimensional tolerances
    • Collaborate with equipment suppliers, internal experts, and other resources to define the best operations for fabricating plastic, wax, foam patterns, or ceramic shells
    • Take initiative in problem solving, cost reductions, and process improvement
    • Work with design engineers and tooling engineers to take products from design to production
    • Work with quality engineers to reduce defects and maintain high yield
    • Provide hands-on support to manufacturing and test areas when developing prototype and production hardware
    • Travel to suppliers when necessary

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing or production environment
    • Hands-on experience creating 3-D models or products

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a creative or engineering discipline
    • Demonstrated professional track record of creative problem solving, cost reductions, and process improvement
    • Experience taking products from design to production
    • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Experience with 3D printers
    • Experience with investment casting

    ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

    • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
