LEAD ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – ORBITAL COMMUNICATION
The SpaceX Avionics Sensors and Optics Development team works to design
and manufacture high performance electronic and optical sensors for the
world's most advanced launch vehicles and spacecraft. The team designs
sensors ranging from smart digital transducers to sophisticated
navigation sensors. These designs range in production quantities from
single unit experimental prototypes to large scale productions of 1000s
of units per year. We are seeking an experienced, innovative electrical
engineer to help build and manage an electrical engineering team focused
on orbital communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the architecture and design of high reliability mixed signal
electronics, including analog opto-electronics, low noise signal
conditioners, power supplies, and digital interfaces.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, manufacturing and production
engineers to design and deliver products through production,
assembly, and testing.
- Build a team of electrical and manufacturing engineers to deliver
high reliability, high performance electronics at volume for the
SpaceX satellite program.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience with the design and production of mixed
analog and digital electronics
- 1+ years of experience with high reliability electronic component
production
- 1+ years of experience leading a team of 3 or more electrical
engineers
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- Expertise or deep knowledge in analysis of high performance mixed
signal electronics, including personally designing circuits for a
production environment.
- Experience management a team of at least 5 in the full life-cycle of
development for electrical components or products.
- Project management experience, from requirements capture
through production.
- Experience with advanced design, including high speed signals,
differential routing, FPGA and microcontrollers.
- Experience manufacturing in AS9100, ISO9001, or equivalent
quality systems.
- Understanding of standardized environmental testing.
- Experience in a fast-paced test environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with
engineering, production and executive management teams.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Must be willing to travel on short or extended trips as needed

must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,
