    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with payload team to develop pointing requirements, error budgets, and verification plans
    • Perform analyses to verify pointing performance of payload, e.g. thermal distortion, control-structure interaction, and jitter analysis
    • Develop test program and execute tests to verify that pointing requirements are met

     BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, optics, or physics
    • 1 year work experience with pointing-critical hardware
    • 2 years' experience with finite element analysis 
    • 2 years' experience in structural dynamics analysis and testing

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or other technical areas of study
    • Experience with optics, antennas, actuators and mechanisms in vibration and vacuum environments
    • Experience with structural-thermal-optical-performance (STOP) analysis
    • Experience with modal survey and finite element model correlation
    • Experience with FEMAP and NASTRAN
    • Proficiency in mathematical computing tools such as Python or MATLAB
    • Experience with structural analysis and test, including a working understanding of strength, stability and fatigue
    • Ability to thrive in a unique, fast-paced environment with flight hardware or equivalent

    • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
