AVIONICS SOURCE INSPECTOR - (REMOTE) - BAY AREA
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel up to 95% of the time to perform documentation review and
flight hardware inspections at supplier sites
- Conduct regular on-site surveillance at critical Avionics suppliers
to ensure compliance to SpaceX standards and procedures
- Execute in-process inspection and final verification of production
hardware to drawing, process specifications and work order
requirements engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry
standards, and SpaceX specifications
- Identify, document, and resolve production and test anomalies in
accordance with prescribed procedures and drive supplier corrective
action as required
- Interface with engineering and supply chain to resolve nonconforming
material issues
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of
ensuring efficiency and consistency across multiple suppliers
- Read, interpret and work from drawings as well as from controlled
documentation and processes.
- Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear,
precise and complete manner
- Identify and escalate supplier problems to appropriate SpaceX
stakeholders to ensure proper resolution as necessary
- Facilitate sourcing strategy and provide input on outsourcing
decisions as needed
- Support the development of inspection plans at suppliers
- Support supplier corrective action process, including verifying
corrective action implementation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with PCB/PCBA Inspection
- IPC-610 Certification
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in avionics/aviation inspections or manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings and CAD models
- Strong GD&T knowledge through experience and/or formal training
- Strong knowledge of the control of nonconforming hardware,
failure/root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action
processes
- Knowledgeable with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management Systems /
AS9102 (First Article Inspection) experience
- Wire harness experience in accordance with NASA-STD-8739.4 and/or
IPC-A-620 standards
- Experience inspecting printed circuit boards, soldering, crimping,
and polymeric application in accordance with IPC-J-STD-001,
IPC-A-600, and IPC-A-610 standards
- Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, be
innovative, detail-oriented, team oriented and possess initiative
- Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor
management software (ERP) and related programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling,
pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required
to perform the functions of this position
- Position may involve long hours and weekend work as needed
- Frequent travel to suppliers required. Valid driver’s license
mandatory
