MANUFACTURING ENGINEER – AVIONICS SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop the supply chain infrastructure for a highly complex orbital
optics assembly to be built in high volumes
- Leverage high volume industry (e.g. automotive, consumer) quality
and production system culture to reduce cost, raise production rates
and improve yields
- Create statements of work and project plans to enable external
development of production solutions
- Create Return of Investment (ROI) analyses to support capital
investment projects at vendor sites
- Drive vendor production efficiency improvements, including robotics
and automation, to reduce labor, component cost and maximize quality
- Support internal integration processes with troubleshooting and
nonconformance resolution
- Perform structured root cause analysis of in-process failures
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of science in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing
engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in process
engineering, manufacturing engineering, or other production related
positions
- Minimum of 1 year of working experience in process qualification
using industry standard methodologies such as IQ/OQ/PQ
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of software development experience in a manufacturing
environment
- Professional experience with 3D CAD software
- NX/Unigraphics CAD experience
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Working proficiency with DFMEA and PFMEA methodology and
implementation
- Experience with microelectronics manufacturing processes
- Six Sigma Belt certification
- Ability to create and deliver presentations for IQ/OQ/PQ, PDR/CDR,
and government customers
- Ability to identify and analyze production process improvements for
rate and quality
- Hands-on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and
building the best hardware
- Demonstrated capability solving complex problems with little to no
supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an
integrated team
- Working experience with industrial automation design and
implementation
- Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environments within the
consumer electronics, mobile handset, medical devices, aerospace,
marine or automotive industries
- Working experience in an ISO9001, AS9100 or equivalent quality
system
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time

including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you
must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,
protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible
to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department
