    TECHNICAL WRITER – SATELLITE PROCESSES 

    You will document technical articles defining and capturing various processes used in satellite development and production builds, including but not limited to: Process mapping, Work Instructions, Manufacturing BOMs, Assembly instructions, non-conforming hardware tracking tickets, compiling production metrics etc.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    Work closely with engineering groups to achieve the following:

    • Write work instructions for a wide variety of complexity from simple machined parts to complex integrated assemblies
    • Document development processes that connect automation solutions to manufacturing requirements
    • Create Manufacturing Bill of Materials for assemblies for planning purposes
    • Set up part attributes for planning purposes
    • Write documentation for non-conforming hardware, standard repairs, inspection plans and controlling specifications.
    • Review documentation generated by engineers to verify conformance with department rules and process
    • Train individuals and groups of people on department rules and process as it relates to documentation of parts and assemblies as needed.
    • Constantly evaluate processes, identify opportunities, and make recommendations to supervisor for process improvements.
    • Write documentation supporting conformance to Quality Management System.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor’s degree. OR 3 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
    • 1 year of experience in a planning, supporting, or coordination role in manufacturing or aerospace industries.
    • Previous work experience with MRP/ERP systems.

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • Ability to coordinate with many different teams.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
    • Strong computer skills, familiar with the full suite of Microsoft products.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, both independently and with a team.
    • Ability to identify and maintain priorities for tasks and projects.
    • Proactive, self-motivated, driven, and committed to a team approach.
    • Experience with AS 9100, ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 13485, or similar quality management system.
    • Knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, and various problem solving approaches.
    • Experience working with suppliers in a manufacturing or quality role.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Able to lift a minimum of 20lbs. unassisted
    • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

    ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

    • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
