MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, TOOLING FABRICATION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the build and delivery of production and R&D tooling
- Work with tool designers to optimize manufacturability
- Interpret technical documents (2D drawings) from engineering and
manufacturing, and envision potential sequence and methods of
manufacture
- Create, revise, and maintain planning documents to produce parts and
components which conform to design configuration and specifications
- Create cost estimates for requested parts, and submit for approval
- Provide project management guidance and expertise to ensure work
plan execution for both internal and outsourced builds, beginning
from releasing work orders through delivery to customer
- Create plans to meet departmental metrics of 100% right first time,
and 95% on-time delivery to customer
- Request raw materials and hardware from purchasing directly from
blue prints as applicable. Work with purchasing to release purchase
orders for outside services and fully outsourced work
- Interface with engineering, quality, manufacturing and procurement
in resolving any hold factors inhibiting the release of plans and
completion of parts
- Work with shop personnel to ensure work instructions are accurate,
and resolve discrepancies arising from incorrect paperwork or other
related problems
- Work with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and quality of
outsourced parts
- Provide weekly updates to management on delivery timelines, work
load and task assignments
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- 2+ years of project management/planning experience in a tool
manufacturing environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with complex parts utilizing multi-axis milling
technology
- Experience with assembly and metal processing, i.e. heat-treating,
thread-rolling, grinding, cold-forming
- Experience with NC programming, CMM programming, PLC programming
- Experience with CAD 3D modeling and 2D drafting
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in NX
or other similar software packages
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems
- Experience in a dynamic automotive or aviation manufacturing
environment
- Ability to work under deadlines, in a high paced work environment
- Ability to quickly learn and absorb technical content
- Strong prioritization skills, and, analytical, computer, and written
skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 50 hour work weeks are typical, schedule varies depending on site
operational needs, flexibility required
- Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment,
under possible extended work hours

including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you
must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S.,
protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible
to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department
