SR. BUYER – MECHANISMS
RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall responsibilities are to supply Engineering and Production simple
to complex manufactured components with an emphasis on machined parts,
actuators, and mechanisms
- Develop, lead, and execute sourcing strategies with consideration
and results for end-to-end supply chain excellence through technical
collaboration, product introduction, cost modeling, logistics,
manufacturing, quality control, ordering/distribution, integration,
and reusability
- Execute long term agreements with strategic suppliers with an
emphasis on meeting and exceeding cost, quality, and delivery goals
- Lead Supplier Quality, Development, and Performance teams to execute
the strategic sourcing vision of the Mechanisms Supply Chain Team
- Be the “Go to” resource for Engineering, Supply Chain,
Manufacturing, and Build Reliability stakeholders and determine the
best value suppliers, NPI Sourcing Plans, Make vs. Buy, Should Cost,
Buy complete strategies, Lead times optimization, etc.
- Build cross functional teams and champion continuous improvement
initiatives to meet or exceed cost, quality, and delivery goals
- Conduct design for manufacturability reviews with support from
Supplier Quality and Engineering teams
- Champion value add value engineering projects to improve part
quality and reduce cost
- Manage a supplier bid-list with preferred suppliers. Mitigate
sole/single source risk and ensure continuity of supply
- Proactively update SpaceX management and engineering teams on all
critical supply issues
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Assess supplier technical capability, equipment, capacity, and risk
in procurement process
- Place POs for MRP Planning messages for production parts
- Resolve purchase order discrepancies and invoice issues
- Analyze procurement data and report metrics
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or similar
technical discipline
- 3+ years of technical procurement experience
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience in manufacturing or designing machined components
- Ability to read drawings and blueprints, with understanding of
manufacturing complexity
- Ability to prove a strong track record of leadership and team
building skills
- Remarkable problem solving skills with a bias for speed
- Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet
customer and company needs
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills, produce exceptional work at all
times, highly self-motivated
- Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- Strong technical knowledge and skills in current technologies and
applications, ie. MS Office Suite, SQL, Access, etc
- Holds self to highest ethical standards, and conducts all activities
with the highest of integrity
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to travel for short and extended trips to suppliers as needed
- Able to work nights and weekends as needed
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations,
applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the
U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or
eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S.
