    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Execute to the defined purchasing strategy for a specific commodity, with a focus on adhesives, chemicals, composites, and other materials and components.
    • Analyze supplier spend, capacity and develop overall supplier negotiation and engagement strategies
    • Identify and propose best value suppliers to the engineering team based on individual’s interpretation of requested parts/blueprints
    • Ensure continuity of supply and lead escalation meetings with suppliers for parts shortages to develop recovery plan
    • Proactively provide updates to SpaceX management and engineering team on all critical supply issues
    • Realize cost savings and supply base management goals
    • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
    • Visit supplier’s facilities to assess ability, machines, and capacity
    • Place quick turnaround purchase orders
    • Execute to MRP messages for production parts
    • Follow up with suppliers to meet committed delivery dates
    • Provide regular feedback to suppliers to improve long term and short term performance
    • Resolve purchase order discrepancies that lead to invoice blockages and late delivery
    • Drive design for manufacturability reviews with support from supplier quality and engineering
    • Administer moderate to large contracts and independently negotiate with suppliers contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope and terms involving responsibility, liability, indemnification, and intellectual property
    • Interpret the conditions and terms of contracts including fiscal and legal implications and advises management on all significant procedures and regulations affecting the contract
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and government regulations
    • Act as liaison with external and internal customers on all matters affecting contractual agreements

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or similar technical discipline
    • 3+ years of experience with technical procurement

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering 
    • Experience with commodity strategy, specifically composites
    • Experience working in the aerospace or automotive industry
    • Experience reading datasheets, drawings and blueprints
    • Technical procurement, manufacturing, or production line experience
    • Proven track record of leadership and team building skills
    • Experience in a production environment 
    • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
    • Knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications, ie. MS Office Suite, SQL, Access, etc
    • Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills
    • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Detail oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
    • Conducts all activities with the highest of integrity

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Able to travel for short and extended trips to suppliers as needed
