MANUFACTURING ENGINEER – AVIONICS POWER SYSTEMS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform hands-on engineering and liaison role between the hardware
design team and production organization as SpaceX works to implement
new designs into the manufacturing phase
- Responsible for the manufacturability and introduction into rate
manufacturing environment of assigned products
- Contribute to design reviews acting as an expert in design for
manufacturability, design for testability, yield improvements,
supplier capabilities assessments, quality control, etc
- Primary point of contact for production non-conforming product,
troubleshooting, root cause, failure investigations and corrective
actions
- Initial Supply Chain development for New Production Introduction
- Process and tooling development/validation for New Product
Introduction
- Drive optimization of assembly and test procedures
- Prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from
development to production including assembly procedures, test
procedures, standard operating procedures, schematic diagrams, bills
of materials, suitable alternate parts lists and mechanical drawings
- Update designs when necessary in response to manufacturing issues,
parts obsolescence, and system requirement changes
- Lead continuous improvement efforts of established product
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of science in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or
aerospace engineering
- At least 2 years of professional experience in the design and/or
production of electronics hardware systems
- Experience with end-to-end printed circuit board fabrication and
assembly
- Experience implementing Design for Manufacture and Design for Test
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Masters of science in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or
aerospace engineering
- Ability to create and deliver presentations for PDR, CDR, MRR
Project Update, etc
- Experience with electro-mechanical assembly
- Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human
spaceflight
- Experience with the design and production of high power electronics
and/or motor drivers
- Demonstrated professional experience providing engineering and
manufacturing support for the production of highly complex
electronic products
- Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as
part of a cross-functional team
- Experience in fast-paced iterative design environments within the
consumer electronics, mobile handset, medical devices, aerospace or
automotive industries
- Familiarity with Altium Designer
- Expert level experience modeling with 3D CAD software such as:
NX/Unigraphics, Catia, Solidworks
- Demonstrated experience designing tooling in a manufacturing
environment
- Ability to identify and analyze production process improvements for
rate and quality
- Hands-on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and
building the best hardware
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on
schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Six Sigma Belt
- Working proficiency with DFMEA and PFMEA methodology and
implementation
- Experience with PCB, PCBA and Electromechanical assembly processes
- Basic competency with SQL databases
- Working experience in an AS9100 or equivalent quality system
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
