Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. POWER ENGINEER (MODELLING, ANALYSISAND DESIGN)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform modeling of spacecraft electrical power system, including solar module/array, power conversion, battery and power distribution
    • Analyze and verify vehicle electrical power modes and power budget; develop load models
    • Model electrical power system performance and derive power system component requirements, including power generation, energy storage, and power distribution sizing
    • Perform analysis to assist in power system topology trades and decisions
    • Analyze and track electrical power system key performance metrics during system design phase

     BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering 
    • 2+ years of experience in electrical power system modeling, simulation, and testing

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Master of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or equivalent area of focus
    • Experience with modelling, simulation and/or design of solar-power vehicles/systems (solar power farm, solar car project, etc)
    • Familiarity with modelling of attitude / orientation of spacecraft, aircraft or robotics (rotation matrices, quaternions)
    • Familiarity with battery charging methods and control algorithms. 
    • Familiarity with spacecraft electrical power systems and knowledge of space environment effects
    • Familiarity with failure mode analysis techniques, fault tolerance and fault isolation
    • Expertise in using software tools such as Matlab, Excel, and Python for numerical analysis and simulation
    • Expertise in electrical engineering and DC power systems
    • Experience with modeling and simulation of multi-system problems
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills. The applicant should possess advanced data visualization skills

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
