Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - IN-TANK PRESSURE SYSTEMS RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Act as a technical resource to research, specify, and procure equipment to meet product build requirements
    • Act as a technical resource to research, specify, and implement validated manufacturing processes and process controls to produce precision gas storage and distribution assemblies
    • Lead engineering of facility and production equipment systems, fixtures, and tooling
    • Maintain ownership of floor layouts, capacity studies, and product flow analysis to ensure on-time vehicle delivery to manifest
    • Set priority and drive agenda for improvement projects to meet critical production schedules
    • Assist production/engineering leadership team to identify trends and opportunities for optimizing product output, quality enhancements, and cost of manufacturability
    • Drive design for manufacturing and assembly during new product development and improvement cycles
    • Resolve complex manufacturing defects and eliminate root cause

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in aeronautical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering
    • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design and hands-on manufacturing experience via internships, labs, outside the classroom extracurricular activities or professional industry experience

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with metallic manufacturing techniques and equipment for processes such as machining, welding, forming, inspection, etc.
    • Strong computer and analytical skills including proficiency in solid modeling software, AutoCAD/SketchUp/Revit, and Microsoft Suite
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
    • Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
    • Experience in a team oriented environment
    • Must be able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
    • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
    • Creative and passionate approach to addressing challenges, and an enthusiastic, self-motivated attitude that relishes in delivering best-in-class performance

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to work while being on your feet for up to 4+ hours a day
    • Ability to work directly with the hardware on the floor and being comfortable stooping, bending, and standing
    • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
