    PURCHASING MANAGER

    SpaceX is looking for a self-starter to manage the indirect spend for our Satellite Division in Redmond, WA.  This individual will be expected to implement the established corporate category strategies and to develop and implement strategic sourcing of all local spend. This person must display extraordinary communication skills to develop relationships with internal stakeholders, interact with the central Purchasing Team, and to provide regular feedback on the progress and challenges in Redmond.

We are looking for the right person who is equipped and ready for these challenges to join our team.  

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Organizational Planning: Responsible for understanding the purchasing requirements and headcount needed to support a new business unit while taking into account the existing centralized purchasing infrastructure/team and processes.
    • Process Creation: Responsible for creating and implementing processes that will leverage cost saving initiatives and strategies while balancing speed to market.
    • Project Management: Responsible for projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updates. Performs assignments independently with instruction limited to results expected.
    • Contract Management: Responsible for assisting in the authoring of contract documents with the Legal Department. Management of contracts ensuring performance of the supplier to contract obligations. Understand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret application of contract to business needs.
    • Negotiations: Utilize negotiations to maximize value and cost savings benefit while lowering risk.
    • Supplier Management: Collaborate with category managers to develop, continuously improve, manage the performance of, and monitor KPIs of the supply base. Establish preferred suppliers for local spend.
    • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirement to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures. Communicate, manage, and drive compliance to category strategies. Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
    • Talent Development: Help manage, lead, develop, and mentor related positions while working on critical projects.  
    • Strategy/Sourcing: Lead, assist, and support the processes, technologies, and operations. Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories.
    • Efficiency: Develop and lead efforts to reduce number of transactions.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, finance, economics, or similar quantitative field. 
    • 5 years of experience in purchasing.

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Technical knowledge of capital equipment, construction, and/or facilities.
    • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
    • Remarkable problem solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize appropriately to meet internal customer and company needs.
    • Effective written and verbal communications skills, which strong ability to communicate to all levels of internal personnel.
    • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.
    • Conducts all activities with the highest of integrity.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Position may require long hours and weekend work.
