GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (GSE) TECHNICIAN
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technician GSE support which involves building, installing,
maintaining and troubleshooting equipment such as pumps, tanks,
valves and plumbing related to the high pressure and low pressure
Helium, Nitrogen, and Argon gas infrastructure, and other aspects of
the site facilities
- Maintain, trouble shoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation as
needed including caring for delicate calibrated equipment/tooling
like gauges, transducers, and sensors
- Operate and maintain hardware, high pressure systems and pumps, and
other ancillary equipment including pneumatic components up to
20,000psi MEOP
- Collaborate with design/facility engineers to develop, build, and
test new equipment and systems
- Ensure all materials are clean and inspected according to Clean for
Oxygen Service Standards
- Build and maintain clean fluid test carts, pressure test panels,
electrical harnesses, and frames/mounting hardware as necessary
- Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits or certifications as
required
- Follow all necessary regulations and appropriate SpaceX procedures
including quality policies, safety policies, OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA,
ASME, NEC, etc. standards
- Develop novel ways site wide to streamline processes and increase
the reliability of testing operations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree
- A&P License
- Experience in the space exploration industry, military or other
high-reliability operating environment
- Experience in ground support equipment in an aerospace industry
- Mechanical aptitude and experience (work with machines and
general tooling)
- Experience in process piping install, especially stainless steel
compression tubing/fittings
- Experience with medium pressure (MP) gaseous/liquid systems and cone
and thread piping
- A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving
plays a critical role
- Experience using test instrumentation and control components
- Knowledge of all types of bore scope inspection equipment
- Knowledge of different fittings such as NPT, AN, MP
- Ability to utilize power tools and hand tools as well as heavy
equipment
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of hazardous systems – cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic,
pyrophoric
- Knowledge of high pressure system design and handling
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- General physical fitness is required for some work areas, flight
hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity
is required, also the ability to lift heavy objects is required in
this position >50lbs
- Valid Driver’s License, and a clean driving record
- Ability to work at elevated heights
- Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat,
cold, rain
- Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors,
and noise
- Typically 50 hour work weeks, schedule varies depending on site
operational needs, flexibility required
- Overtime is frequently required for particular tasks or test series

- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations,
applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the
U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or
eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S.
