    Job Description

    Are you an energetic leader who is passionate about working with highly vulnerable populations, helping animals in need, and has a proven recording of accomplishment in building effective partnerships with a variety of constituents?

    Join spcaLA! As the Program Manager, Animal Safety Net, you will help spcaLA strengthen and expand our Animal Safety Net (ASN) ™ program.  For over 20 years, ASN has provided temporary housing for pets of domestic violence (DV) survivors and offers animal-assisted classed for DV-affected families.

    Now, we are working to expand our scope to include more families in crisis due to loss of housing/homelessness, hospitalization, death, financial instability, and other unforeseen situations.  

    In addition to leading and coordinating all aspects of the ASN program, in concert with the Director of Violence Prevention, you will also support a variety of programs within the department, including:

    • Teaching Love & Compassion (TLC), a multi-week youth program that combines social-emotional learning with hands-on training of shelter dogs;
    • spcaLA’s Court Diversion Program for Youth, a 16-hour program for system-involved youth affected by or involved in cases of animal abuse, family violence, or bullying;
    • Friends for Life Summer Camp for 9-14 year-olds.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual – Spanish required; 2+ years of experience working with intimate partner/domestic violence survivors and other underserved populations; 2+ years of experience developing and facilitating social-emotional learning/healthy relationships curriculum; Experience working with underserved youth in education, mental health, or youth development settings; B.A. degree mandatory (degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred).
