  • Responsibilities

    We are looking for an Engineering Manager (Chapter Lead) to drive the backend engineering practice within Spotify’s Free Revenue mission in our New York office. In this role, you will be instrumental in growing the team and guiding software development to successfully scale and build ad delivery infrastructure. You will help us define and materialize our monetization vision to improve the ad experience for our users and advertisers alike, and grow our advertising business to a market leader. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music.

    What you’ll do

    • Develop people and teams through coaching, mentoring, and management support
    • Facilitate collaboration with other engineers, product owners, and designers to solve interesting and challenging problems across our ad platform
    • Participate in backend engineering technology architecture discussions for product development and advocate better backend development practices (CI, testing, operational efficiency, etc.)
    • Grow the technical expertise of your team around quality, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance using state of the art tools (including Google Cloud Platform offering)
    • Advocate and promote leadership at all levels within the larger engineering community
    • Work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard backend engineers
    • Work from our office in NYC and be occasionally willing to travel to other Spotify offices

    Who you are

    • You love developing and growing people and have a tracked record doing it
    • You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development
    • You are experienced with leading, coaching, and mentoring individuals and teams
    • You have a deep understanding of service oriented architectures and scalable systems serving millions of users
    • You preferably have ad tech and large-scale backend experience in an agile development environment
    • You may have experience with payments systems and/or ecommerce products
    • You may have experience supporting external APIs and/or developer communities
