    Job Description

    The Makers Lab is seeking a Front End Developer with Designer skills. The ideal candidate must be a skilled and dedicated developer/ designer with excellent Coding skills for Front End Development, some visual design skills, and an understanding UI/UX design. Day to day responsibilities will include working heavily with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including writing full code) and related technologies, as well as working with creative teams to inform upon and help develop their ideas. The candidate will be working the banner ad space with an additional focus on landing pages/other web properties, social media assets, email templates, presentations, and various special projects as needed.

    The Front End Developer will also be spending a good deal of time working with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch. Must be able to write clean code and be able to pick up other developers’ code quickly. Additionally, I should have an operational knowledge of PowerPoint, google docs and Keynote.

    The candidate will also be responsible for keeping up to date with web and digital best practices, informing both internal and client teams on those practices and ways to enhance performance, and presenting solutions to clients. Must be able to communicate well under pressure and deliver under tight deadlines.

    RESPONSIBILITIES 

    ·  Banner development (HTML5/CSS/JS)

    ·  Email newsletters/templates design & development (HTML5/CSS/JS and Mailchimp)

    ·  Landing page development (technology stacks may vary)

    ·  Familiarity with standard web banner limitations and best practices (e.g., IAB guidelines)

    ·  Know how to create, manage, and update Design Systems, as well as work within those of the clients.

    ·  Proficiency with CSS and JS animation, as well as Canvas and SVG animation

    ·  Experience working with JS animation libraries like GSAP a big plus

    ·  Experience working with HTML video

    ·  Experience integrating video into online advertising

    ·  Practical understanding of third-party vendors’ HTML ad creation workflow

    ·  Excellent debugging/problem-solving skills

    ·  Experience with preprocessors such as SCSS, LESS, etc is a nice plus. 

    ·  Experience working with front end frameworks like React or Angular a (big) plus

    ·  Working knowledge of GIT (Gitlab/Github/ Github Desktop)

    ANIMATION

    · A strong sense of flow and timing when creating animations in an HTML environment

    · Proficiency at animating with pure CSS or JS

    ·  Proficiency at video manipulation and animation (e.g., animation website or feature mockups) in After Effects

    ·  Previous experience with animation/banner creation in Flash, Adobe Animate, Google Web Designer, or similar programs a plus

    ·  Familiarity with Basecamp and Wiredrive.

    DESIGN

    ·  Eagle Eye for detail in design and layout in order to replicate in HTML

    ·  Experience exporting, managing, and optimizing assets for low-k target environments

    ·   Knowledge of image compression best practices, methods, and tools

    IMAGE MANIPULATION/MECHANICAL DEVELOPMENT (PHOTOSHOP/ILLUSTRATOR/SKETCH/INDESIGN)

    ·  Create low-k, high-quality image assets from storyboards

    ·   An understanding of the subtleties of image formats as they pertain to image quality, file size and suitability for a given purpose

    GENERAL

    ·  Work with the Sr. Manager - Studio Production to help refine and determine Best Practices for digital design workflow and Quality Control

    ·  Conducting Quality Control of digital assets within the Studio, be comfortable checking others’ work and being peer reviewed

    ·  An understanding and appreciation for detail in your work – and noticing and respecting detail in work that others produce

    ·  A general understanding of Rich Media specs, best practices and definitions

    ·  Familiarity with project management tools like Trello, Asana, Mavenlink, or other similar tools a big plus.

    Qualifications

    ·  3-5 years' experience working in developing coded interactive advertising

    ·  HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript proficient writing code not just editing

    Intermediate knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. 

    ·  Fluent English written and verbal communications skills  required, Spanish language skills a plus. 

    ·  Detail oriented and highly organized

    ·  Strong familiarity with the state of the web from a technological best practice and aesthetic perspective

    ·  Basic understanding Presentation software
