We are The Mars Agency – a full-service, global agency in a world full of agencies. The difference between us and them? We write our own rules. It’s one of the many perks of being independently owned for over forty years. We exist to nurture growth & good – in business, in people and in communities. From strategy to execution, here, it’s all about leadership and ideas that create impact. SmartAisle (www.smartaisle.io) – the world’s first Voice-powered retail shopping assistant – was invented by a talented team of dreamers, designers and makers at The Mars Agency. It is an innovative new technology platform designed specifically to revolutionize the customer experience in brick & mortar retail stores. Through a combination of an intuitive Voice interface, connected LED lights affixed to the shelf and a powerful artificial intelligence engine working behind the scenes, it provides expert product recommendations, education and support to shoppers at the all-important point of decision. We are looking for a rock star Senior Product Manager to define and execute the vision for SmartAisle’s current and future product offerings, and carry out our mission to revolutionize the customer experience in brick & mortar retail stores. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead the development of a master product strategy and roadmap that aligns to our mission and business goals, and addresses key market opportunities and shopper needs. • Work with the executive team to develop and refine the product business model. • Oversee the lifecycle of our current products, including: analyzing data, updating existing and introducing new features, improving key performance metrics, optimizing marketing efforts, and expanding to new markets and customers. • Guide the creation of new products, including: identifying unmet market and end-user needs; conceiving of innovative, value-add solutions; building and communicating a product plan from conception to launch; leading effective product design sessions resulting in user stories and technical requirements for development; and establishing clear product goals and success metrics. • Work closely with a core cross-functional team of designers, creatives, engineers, project managers and sales & marketing specialists to deliver products to market, including participating in technical QA of the product. • Evaluate and manage relationships with key external partners that will support our product and business vision. • Create buy-in for the product strategy, and socialize a clear view of priorities and progress against the product roadmap with the core team, senior leadership and key business partners. • Proactively identify and resolve strategic roadblocks that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals. • Build out the Product team as the company expands and needs dictate – including overseeing hiring, on-boarding and training – and grow into a management and leadership role with an eye towards becoming Head of Product. CHARACTERISTICS: • You are excited at the prospect of pioneering a new business for a first-of-its-kind product. • You have a point of view about the future of brick & mortar retail (and it’s not that it’s dying). • You are well-versed in the evolution of and emerging trends driving digital shopping experiences. • You can expertly bridge the technical and business worlds as you design products that customers love. • You are able to work in dynamic, ambiguous conditions requiring rapid iteration cycles; and to transition between collaborative and individual work, as part of an agile, forward-thinking team. • You are curious, entrepreneurial and an out-of-the-box thinker. • You are a strategic problem solver, collaborative team player and polished communicator (written and oral). • You would describe yourself as ambitious, passionate about your work and the type of person for whom a hard problem to solve gets your blood pumping. QUALIFICATIONS: • 5+ years of experience managing software or hardware products throughout the lifecycle (inception to launch and beyond), preferably with a consumer technology and/or retail focus. • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Business, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • Some experience with Voice or other Conversational AI technologies preferred.
