  • Responsibilities

    The DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT is responsible for strategy, planning, managing and pursuit of business development objectives. Vulcan is seeking a Director of Product for a satellite-based reporting tool that provides actionable intelligence to government and non-government enforcement personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience in IDENTIFYING NEW MARKETS, PROSPECTIVE PARTNERSHIPS, AND DEVELOPING THE STRATEGY TO CAPTURE SUCCESSFUL OPPORTUNITIES.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Accountable for overall product financial and impact success
    • Sets technical product strategy and long-term vision to ensure product market fit
    • Partners with internal stakeholders to define GTM strategy and key tactics
    • Creates and owns CxO relationships internally and with customers and partners
    • Manages product managers, analysts, and services team members
    • Represents Vulcan at world-class government and industry events
    • Prioritizes business and technical projects across cross-functional teams
    • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments

    SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

    • Leading teams that have built and operated modern satellite-based reporting tools
    • Have a strong point of view of bad actors in the maritime domain
    • Good understanding of International maritime security policy
    • Managing senior business and technical teams
    • HAVE EXISTING RELATIONSHIP WITH SENIOR US AND INTERNATIONAL NATIONAL SECURITY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS
    • Ability to use large data sets to make strategic decisions - an understanding of machine learning is a bonus 
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, engineering, advertising, public relations, communications or related field.
    • Master’s degree in business administration or finance preferred.
    • 5+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH THE US GOVERNMENT SECTOR.
    • Ten+ (10) years of full-cycle direct sales experience with a concentration in technical and/or government sales (this does not include sales support, account management, program management or engineering experience).
    • Displays exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills.
    • Has the ability to perform top quality presentations.
    • Shows excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Possesses strong organizational skills, is a good time manager and effective multi-tasker.
    • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Exhibits superior complex problem solving and decision-making abilities.

    Special remarks regarding work environment

    • This position is located in Seattle, WA
    • Able to travel Internationally up to 33% of the time
