    Vulcan Inc. is looking for a technical, hands on engineering leader who will help us tackle extremely difficult, long standing challenges in climate modeling.

    In addition to direct contributions, this candidate is expected to evaluate a spectrum of proposals, models, and recruit a broader team to execute against this ambitious Climate Modeling Project. At a minimum, this will include experts in climate science, computer science and systems, and Machine Learning.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    1. MS or PhD degree in Climate Sciences or related technical field – a deep, formal academic background and foundation.
    2. Direct ties to the climate community and thorough understanding of the modeling successes and shortcomings over the decades.
    3. Exposure and experience working with deep, yet broad multi-disciplinary groups (again the trio of climate scientists, computer systems, and ML experts – as a minimum).
    4. Exposure and experience with complex, long term, big bet projects.
    5. Proven track record of delivering solutions and objectively demonstrating progress against challenging problems.
    6. Exceptional collaboration skills and track record – including effective verbal and written communication skills.
