POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining the highest quality
gardening practices and procedures for a large Estate. This position
will be responsible for completing daily tasks to maintain
gardening/landscaping standards. This is a hands-on position that may
also be required to assist in other related duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain/plant trees, shrubs, perennials, hedges, climbing roses,
vines and containers.
- Handle seasonal lawn maintenance, leaf removal, edging and weeding.
- Plant and maintain fruits and vegetables for growth and harvest.
- Groom paths, remove snow and ice from surrounding all buildings and
entry gate in winter.
- Clean, maintain and operate landscaping equipment.
- Assist with maintenance projects.
- Assist with lawn mowing, watering, deadheading and clean up.
- Support and participate in other duties as determined necessary by
the Manager, Landscaping & Horticulture.
- Prune and shear hedges.
- Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment
of commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability
- Knowledge of basic plant identification. Knowledge of maintaining
and planting ornamental trees, flowers, and shrubs.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to use basic gardening/horticultural tools.
- Previous experience working as a landscaper/gardener with knowledge
around how to plant and maintain ornamental trees, flowers,
and shrubs. Basic plant identification a plus.
- Must be able to use basic gardening/horticultural tools.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to understand and speak English.
- Need to be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills with the ability
to effectively respond to requests and questions from managers,
supervisors and co-workers.
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to work evenings, weekends
and holidays on occasion.
- Must have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational
skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Experience working on an Estate or Large Property preferred.

- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Education/experience/certifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and
previous experience working as a gardener/landscaper.
Special remarks regarding work environment:
- This position is required to work outdoors in inclement weather.
