  • Responsibilities

    The Vulcan Finance team is looking for a self-starter who is eager to gain exposure to federal, state, and local tax returns and build on their accounting skills across a multitude of diverse business units.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with overall tax compliance for over 2,500 tax filings for S Corporation, Limited Liability Companies, Partnerships and Trusts to be completed annually. This includes preparation of tax workpaper packages, review of accounting workpapers, computation of Schedule M-1 adjustments, analysis of tax accounts, review of fixed asset system tax depreciation, preparation of tax returns, and calculation and preparation of extensions and estimated tax payments.
    • Assist with quarterly tax summary updates.
    • Resolve and respond to tax notices as appropriate.
    • Responsible for preparation of: Tax reporting associated with aircraft and yachts and Business and Occupation tax and Sales and Use tax reporting
    • Assist with Federal and State tax controversy including gathering of support, and development of responses.
    • Special projects as assigned.

    • Ability and aptitude to learn or experience with: One Source Tax Prep software, PeopleSoft, RIA, CCH and other research software.
    • Experience with pass-through entity and individual taxation: federal, state and local.
    • Compliance experience.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
    • Experience interacting with outside service providers.

    Preferred

    • CPA or CPA candidate

         

    Education/experience/certifications

    Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from accredited institution and 1-3 plus years relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
