    New York Public Radio is a multi-platform public media organization and the parent company of WNYC Radio (93.9 FM and AM 820), WQXR Classical Radio (105.9 FM), New Jersey Public Radio, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, WNYC Studios, Gothamist,  and national programs Radiolab, On the Media, and Here’s the Thing, among others.  New York Public Radio seeks a Development Associate to support NYPR’s institutional giving team, which oversees approx. $6.4 million annually in grants from major foundations, government agencies, and corporate foundations.  Major responsibilities include:

    • Work closely with the Institutional Giving team to engage top donors; develop deep familiarity with their portfolios and work plans to assist and learn.
    • Assist in timely and accurate preparation for donor and prospect visits.
    • Liaise with program and finance staff on reports and reports due, including setting deadlines, providing them necessary materials, and managing the document process.
    • Assist with editing and preparation of proposals, reports, government forms and other documents; gather support materials and prepare documents for submission, including complex online submission platforms.
    • Assist with prospect research and meeting prep as needed.
    • Produce individualized acknowledgements and other correspondence for donors, ensuring their accuracy and consistency with NYPR’s style and messaging.
    • Work with Institutional Giving Director and Director of Director of Development Operations on financial goals, tracking, and budgeting.
    • Analyze and develop various fundraising reports, tracking goals, and fundraising activities.
    • Assist with department events.

     RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Verifiable 2+ year history of institutional giving experience and/or development for a non-profit institution, preferably located in New York City.

    • Excellent writing and editing skills, including strong oral communication  skills

    • Experience working with an array of institutional funders (government, foundations, etc)

    • Strong organizational and time management skills, including a very high attention to detail and precision.

    • Proven project and time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and priorities.

    • Experience in assembling budgets for grant proposals and financial reports.

    • A problem solver and quick study; proactive, creative, and motivated; calm under pressure.

    • Knowledge of and appreciation for public radio a plus.

    • Experience using sophisticated fund raising database products and fundraising research products.

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
