  • Responsibilities

    New York Public Radio (NYPR) seeks an intern to support the Patron Programs (which cultivates and solicits donors giving $1,000-$24,999 annually) and the Major Gifts team (which cultivates and solicits donors giving $25,000 or more annually).

     RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists the Major Gifts Prospect Research Associate and the Patron Programs with regular delivery of accurate and detailed research profiles of both current donors and prospects.
    • Assists both the Patrons and Major Gifts teams with written and oral correspondence. This includes newsletters, invitations, large scale acknowledgements, solicitations, phone calls, and other donor-related communications. Opportunities to assist in grant proposal and report writing may also be available.
    • Assists with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database – including data input, output and cleanup. As needed, assists with updating web pages via the Content Management System (CMS).
    • Collaborates with teams to improve engagement strategies, including documenting donor interests in the database and monitoring New York Public Radio newsletter, programming and live events calendar to identify opportunities for connection.
    • Tracks and analyzes event attendance and follow-up.
    • Assists team in analyzing data to evaluate donor engagement.
    • Tracks inventory.
    • Assists with filing and administrative tasks as necessary.
    • Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
    • Expected time commitment: 35 hours a week. Schedule is flexible.
    • Occasionally works evening events. Weekly time commitments will be adjusted accordingly.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The successful candidate will be highly energetic with superior attention to detail and a strong interest in building donor relationships, database management and event management. Must have exceptional organization and time management skills. Demonstrates strong communication skills—both oral and written—and able to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels of an organization, across a diverse range of cultural, generational, ethnic, racial, educational and social backgrounds. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. An interest in public media is a plus.

     

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

     

    Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills are required. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required. General understanding of how fundraising databases function is a plus.

     

    ELIGIBILITY

    Any student (undergraduate or graduate) or person who has graduated no more than 12 months prior to the start of the internship period to which he/she is applying. Interns must be authorized to work in the United States.

     

    Interns are eligible to receive college credit.
