ENGINEERING INTERN
overview
During my internship, I was tasked with figuring out improvements to the assembly line through research, which was to be submitted to the plant manager at the end of my tenure. I researched machines in use and found that several machines could be replaced for more cost-efficient models that could streamline the process, by having the functions of two or more machines in one machine itself. My research was then submitted to the plant manager who estimated that the new machines would increase productivity by 15%. During this internship I gained knowledge of design for car and two-wheel vehicle batteries, support systems, and various material hardening processes. I also used AutoCAD and SolidWorks software for 3D modeling, skills I had gained during my first year of engineering design. I also supervised a peer in safe use of tools (MIG welder, plasma torch, mill, oxy-acetylene torch). Through this internship, the most valuable information I gained was hands-on experience in production and assembly line, and knowledge about process flow through coordinating with the manufacturing team.
