    overview
I helped a graduate student with her dissertation studies on urbanization and conservation effort. I assisted in visual field encounter surveys within the NYC metropolitan area and design of species specific primers using software program GENEious and NCBI. I was trained to work under sterile lab conditions because we worked with small amounts of highly degraded environmental DNA. Some other critical molecular techniques we used were PCR, qPCR, DNA extraction, filter paper extraction, and gel electrophoresis.
