    • FURG, Rio Grande, Brazil • This study aimed to compare the performance of Nessler method and ion-selective electrode determining the concentration of ammoniacal nitrogen in the effluent of an anaerobic process for biogas production. Effluent samples from anaerobic digestion of biomass from the microalgae Spirulina, macroalgae biomass, and glycerol were analyzed. • Name of the project: Production of biogas with microalgae. • Name of project: Determination of ammoniacal nitrogen in liquid effluent from anaerobic digestion of macro and microalgae. • This study aimed to perform experiments in order to quantify and characterize the biogas produced with microalgae biomass. Initially it was performed an experiment to determine the methanogenic potential of the anaerobic sludge. Then, the main experiment was performed using the biomass of the microalgae Chlorella pyrenoidosa as a substratum for the biogas production.
