During my shadowing experience in the Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology departments, I observed physicians and physician assistants diagnose and manage complex conditions, communicate with patients, and collaborate within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. I gained insight into diagnostic tools, treatment planning for chronic diseases, and the importance of empathy in patient care. Additionally, I observed gastroenterologists diagnose and treat digestive and liver disorders, perform endoscopic procedures, and interpret imaging and lab results. This experience reinforced my understanding of specialized medical care and the critical role of teamwork and effective communication in patient outcomes.
