Working at the Celanese Bishop Plant Facility patrolman and gate guards hold key roles in the everyday work flow of the facility. I learned the safety rules that applies to working in a chemical plant , as well as communication is key , you are the eyes and ears of the facility , stemming from emergencies to getting the tanker man to the correct post and helping contractors get to where they are conducting hands on work. I was able to attain the ability to multi task in stressful fast paced situations as well as learn how to manage a busy traffic flow . I was operating the Gate 1 / main entrance of the plant , from signing different contractors in to assisting high level visitors to get them to their correct site contact. Also had to learn the operations of running the gate , from opening the gate to making announcements through a radio, navigating through channels finding the units correct channel , to inform them of information needing to be passed down to them or just to conduct site wide announcements like emergencies and such. Learned ways to navigate through a computer in order to send out emails or anything else that is needed. I was on shift working 6am-2pm at times , other shifts I was able to adjust to in a day time span was 2pm-10pm and given a day or two time span to adjust to the weekend shift which is a 12hr shift from 6am-6pm. I learned to become very adaptable and flexible with schedules , I am physically prepared for any role/ tasks/ schedule needed in order to conduct my job to company standards. Other than the roles of signing contractors into the facility and running the Gate 1 gate / Main gate , I was to conduct 2-hour patrols through out the shift , paying attention to my surrounding while being 100% safe and following Celanese rules , keeping a look out for any unauthorized alien entities trying to enter the facility or any contractors not complying with Celanese rules. I was to pay attention to the formaldehyde rail tanks as well as check diesel pumps to make sure they aren’t running , if they were I was to contact IC(Incident Commander) immediately. There is a wide range of skills and attributes to be learned working at the Celanese Bishop Plant Facility , a lot of the safety rules and compliances are common sense and knowledge retainable for any job/ job site. I have confidence and faith in my abilities to conduct my job safely and efficient , up to company standards.
