As an ACCESS STEP Cybersecurity Intern funded by the National Science Foundation, I had the incredible opportunity to work closely with the Cybersecurity department at NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications). During my internship, I successfully implemented advanced scanning methods, which resulted in a remarkable 20% increase in the number of hosts scanned by Qualys, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of vulnerability management. Collaborating closely with the ACCESS cybersecurity team, I conducted weekly reviews of Qualys reports and promptly initiated remediation tickets, leading to a notable 15% reduction in threat exposure. Additionally, I played a vital role in optimizing network security by validating DNS records for TERAGRID.ORG, ensuring proper Kerberos setup, and subsequently achieving a remarkable 25% enhancement in vulnerability documentation. My time at NCSA was a rewarding experience, and I am proud to have contributed significantly to the organization's cybersecurity endeavors.
