• • Directs commanders and staff in all aspects of patient administration. Plan, organize, coach, and control patient administration in various health care settings, including a command headquarters, a health services facility, a clinical support division, a department, a service, or a military medical/dental facility branch. Safeguards that buildings, grounds, equipment, and supplies are maintained and serviced. Supervises the acquisition, distribution, and storage of company supplies and shared support services such as mailing, printing, and copying; security; and cleaning and maintenance. Supports other related, varying needs of assigned departments and staff. Generates and administers budgets for supplies, equipment, and contract services. Categories opportunities for cost savings, better efficiency, or other improvements; recommends and implements policy or process changes as appropriate. Monitors any construction or renovation projects to ensure plan requirements and applicable health, safety, and legal standards are met. Assemble data and prepare reports on outpatient, inpatient, admissions, and dispositions. Originating correspondence concerning medical records needed for medical board proceedings or line of duty investigations.
• Collaborates with architectural, engineering, design, and planning teams to create practical and productive work and other business spaces. Identifies opportunities for cost savings in assigned areas; recommends and implements policy or process changes as needed. Supports the various related needs of assigned departments. Prepares, negotiates, analyzes, and reviews contracts for equipment, supplies, materials, services, and products. Prepares and reviews departmental, maintenance, and other recurring schedules and reports for accuracy and efficiency. Oversees the disposal of unclaimed or surplus property. Advises commanders and staff in all aspects of patient administration. Collects and analyzes patient and institutional data. Working knowledge of patient medical eligibility programs like the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS). Well-versed in medical terminology, particularly as it applies to anatomy and physiology. Oversee any funds deposited in medical services accounts to ensure their safekeeping and prepare patients’ documentation during a medical evacuation.
• Assists medical staff in evaluating patient care quality and developing criteria and methods for such an evaluation. Advises the medical commander on patient administration and medical regulation issues and serves as an adviser on health services facility management, organization, operation, professional staff functions, and the standards prescribed by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
