overview
LEADERSHIP & ACHIEVEMENTS
• Spearheaded bug/issue tracking for the whole Unreal 4 project, working directly with the development team to ensure we all knew what needed to be worked on in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Matched the designer's gameplay vision and intended mechanics to the actual product, which required deep understanding of gameplay mechanics, design, and production, and intended gameplay interactions
• As a result, 414 cards were filed on the Trello project manager: 260 by me and 154 split between the other contributors, which is the number of bugs, issues, and QoL improvements I implemented or audited
• Chex Quest HD was released to the public May 18, 2020 on Steam to Very Positive user review (80% or more), and later released on Nintendo Switch
• CQHD was downloaded over 22,000 times in the first week with an average play time of around 40 minutes, and regenerated interest in the Chex brand with coverage by pop culture outlets such as Polygon
EXPERIENCE & RESPONSIBILITIES
LEAD QUALITY ASSURANCE
• Led QA (Quality Assurance) on the Chex Quest HD video game, done in association with General Mills, Inc., a leader in the consumer packaged food industry, to promote the Chex Mix brand as a gaming brand
• Mastered Trello (Jira) using extensive experience with online technical support, troubleshooting, debugging, and online ticket tracking and management. Led software writing and documentation.
• Managed a remote Linux server, using “sysadmin” skills, command-line Terminal, scripts, and FTP to operate and configure it, build software, and monitor access logs for suspicious activity and security risks
• Responsibilities included extensive and thorough testing of all alpha builds, filing new bug or issue cards (usually 20 per pass, ranging and categorized in severity from graphical bugs, QoL/quality of life improvements, to crashes), directing development to areas of concern, and vetting prior cards assigned to developers to ensure they were fixed. This testing process required:
◦ Extreme perception and attention to detail, leaving no stone unturned
◦ Identifying all minutiae and obstacles, and noticing and finding anything and everything
◦ Deductive detective skills: thorough, repeated testing of a specific issue in varying environments to determine the exact issue and where the program logic broke down, not merely if it’s not working
◦ Teamwork skills: working together on a unified goal, with no artificial quotas, classism, elitism or friction between team members, resulting in a streamlined process and project unhindered by division
JUNIOR PROGRAMMER
• Planned and led programming efforts to port the Chex Quest 3 PC game to Unity, including Android/Google Play, Apple, PC (Epic, GOG, and Steam), Sony PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One
• This included sound engineering, menu logic, graphics (editing and scratch creation), extensive bug fixes, and a cleanup of the entire game’s coding from a proprietary language to being compatible with Unity
