If you get an entry-level job in Vermont during summer, you will be in one of the best hiking, backpacking, and biking states in the US. But the real fun starts in winter, when the ski resorts open and you are given access to over 2,000 feet of vertical—more than New York, Maine, and New Hampshire combined. Vermont is known as the Green Mountain State due to the famous Green Mountains in the North. If you get a Vermont entry-level job you could very well be living in Burlington, the state’s largest city in close proximity to these mountains. In the south Vermont boasts a blend of smaller communities with larger urban settings, a perfect combination of cities and rural environments. Central Vermont, with the state capital of Montpelier also has a variety of historic downtowns to explore during your time off. If you get a Vermont job in the summer you will also have to visit Lake Champlain which takes up half of Vermont’s western boarder. Vermont is one of four states that used to be a sovereign state. It joined the rest of the US in 1791, the first state to do so outside of the original 13 colonies. If you get a job in Vermont you will not have to give up the sense of community that comes with a smaller town.
