2026 Remote Government Internships

If you want a career that’s guaranteed to make an impact on people, look no further than the field of politics. And to get a taste for the government world, be sure to check out government internships. There are plenty of opportunities in Washington, D.C. of course, but if you don’t live near the nation’s capital, don’t get discouraged: there are lots of other places to intern throughout the country. If you feel passionate about a particular political party, you can become a politics intern in the local chapter of the Democrats, Republicans, or whichever organization you prefer. With these positions, you can assist with duties such as event planning, voter registration, and outreach. If you’d rather work directly with a politician, your internship in government can take place at the mayor’s office, or anywhere within your local city hall. If you do decide to intern at the White House, your government internship will be full-time, giving you plenty of exposure to the field as well as meaningful experience in the nation’s political hub. No matter where you choose to intern in politics, you will gain valuable skills that can be applied later on in your career.
