Alvin Community College in Brazoria County, Texas has provided career training and associate’s degree programs to thousands of students since its establishment as Alvin Junior College in 1948. Concentrations are available in helicopter training, massage therapy, pharmacy tech, sociology and many more areas of study. ACC is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and its participation in the Texas Common Course Numbering System ensures smooth transfer of credits earned there to a nearby four-year university. Campus resources include a comprehensive library and 24-unit computer lab. And special events are a big thing at ACC: students enjoy “Dolphins Lead,” a year-long program for development of leadership and professional skills, as well as a fall festival and special annual night of Big Band Music. The ACC Student Center, furthermore, is a great place to de-stress, and has a coffee bar, charging stations and a game room with video game consoles and a big-screen TV. No wonder Alvin’s most famous resident, big league pitcher Nolan Ryan, chose to study here during his off-seasons!
